A focused 3–4 week plan clears the HCLTech assessment if you respect what actually eliminates candidates: the Computer Fundamentals sectional cutoff (especially for non-CS branches), the one-minute-per-question pace, and a coding round with almost no debugging time.
Week-by-week plan
- Week 1 — Aptitude core. Revise HCF/LCM, Time & Work, Pipes, Percentages, Profit & Loss and Speed–Distance from the syllabus. Target: any aptitude question in under 60 seconds using LCM/unit-work shortcuts.
- Week 2 — Reasoning + verbal speed. Daily sets of blood relations, syllogisms and inequalities; 15-minute timed verbal drills with error identification and para jumbles.
- Week 3 — Computer Fundamentals + coding. One topic a day: OOP pillars, DBMS keys and ACID, OS (deadlock, paging), networking (TCP handshake), plus daily output-tracing practice on the Computer Fundamentals page. Solve one short coding problem daily in your chosen language.
- Week 4 — Full simulations. Complete timed placement papers on alternate days (all five sections back-to-back, ~80 minutes); review every mistake the same day.
Exam-day strategy
- No negative marking — never leave an MCQ blank.
- Sectional timers mean sectional plans: shortcuts in Quant, quick wins first in Reasoning, one-read answers in Verbal.
- In Computer Fundamentals, do concept MCQs first and output-tracing questions last — tracing eats time.
- In coding, get problem 1 fully working before opening problem 2 — one complete solution beats two half solutions.
