The HCLTech recruitment process for freshers has three elimination stages: the online assessment (with coding), a technical interview and an HR interview. End to end, expect 2–6 weeks from test to offer letter.
Stage 1 — Online assessment (~80 minutes)
Four MCQ sections with sectional timers and cutoffs plus the coding round (pattern here). It is proctored — stable internet, webcam on, no tab switching. In campus AMP drives this stage expands into the cognitive + coding + Versant English sequence, and top scorers are invited to Momentum/Polaris upgrade tests.
Stage 2 — Technical interview (30–45 minutes)
A discussion with an HCLTech panelist covering programming fundamentals in your preferred language, OOP pillars with examples, DBMS and SQL (keys, ACID, simple queries), operating systems (deadlock, paging), networking basics, and a deep dive into your resume projects. You may be asked to write a short function on paper or a shared editor — reversing words in a sentence is a favourite. Prepare with our HCLTech interview questions.
Stage 3 — HR interview (20–30 minutes)
Communication, flexibility and fit: relocation across HCLTech's delivery centres, shift willingness, career plans and salary/agreement terms. Document verification usually starts here — keep marksheets and ID ready.
After selection
- Offer & documents — offer letter by email; upload academics and ID for background verification.
- Pre-joining training — off-campus and non-Primus candidates go through mandatory training with assessments before onboarding.
- Deployment — allocation to a delivery centre and project based on business demand.
All communication comes via the email you registered with and the HCLTech careers portal — check both regularly, including spam. HCLTech never asks for payment at any stage.
