Infosys does not publish a rank-to-offer formula. The pipeline below is assembled from the official 2026 structure plus consistent candidate reports from the 2023, 2025 and 2026 cycles. The shape is stable even when the cut-offs move.
The pipeline
| Step | What happens | Typical timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Registration | Through the college TPO and the Infosys survey form; account on the Infosys Assessment Platform | Jan – Mar |
| 2. Round 1 | 3 problems / 3 hours, virtual, proctored; ranked on test cases passed | Mar (2026); Jul (2025) |
| 3. Round 1 PPI shortlist | Email inviting strong solvers to a pre-placement interview for SP or DSE; sometimes a "2-slide PPT on career aspirations" is requested first | 2–4 weeks after Round 1 |
| 4. Round 2 | In-person 3-hour assessment (~4 problems) at an Infosys DC or partner campus | Apr (2026) |
| 5. Pre-placement interview | Single panel, 20–45 minutes: paper coding, technical discussion, projects, HR — often on the Round 2 day | Apr – Sep |
| 6. Role mapping and offer | Cumulative score decides SP L1/L2/L3 or DSE; letter of intent to a pre-final-year student, final offer after graduation subject to marks | 2–6 weeks after PPI |
| 7. Grand Finale (top 100) | Team hackathon; prizes and Champion of Champions; internship invitations | Nov (2026); Aug (2025) |
How performance maps to role (candidate-reported)
- Round 2 top solvers (2–3 of 4, or 2.5+) — PPI for Specialist Programmer; 2026 reports show SP L1 placements from this group, with L2/L3 reserved for the very top.
- Round 1 strong solvers (about 2.5 of 3) — SP-track PPI even without a Round 2 result, per 2025 campus reports.
- Round 1 two-problem solvers — PPI for DSE; SP candidates with an average interview are also mapped here rather than rejected.
- One-problem solvers — no HWI PPI in recent cycles, but a fast-track into the regular Systems Engineer drive has been reported in older editions.
The PPI itself
One panel of one or two engineers. It opens with your contest code, moves to a paper-coding question or two (Sort Colors and Top-K Frequent Elements were asked in 2026), then a technical discussion — SQL with window functions, OOP and SOLID, Python or Java internals, OS concepts, a design basic such as rate limiting — and closes with your project and HR questions on relocation, stress and career goals. See interview questions for model answers.
A PPI result for a pre-final-year student is a conditional offer: it converts only if you graduate on time with 60% / 6 CGPA and no active backlogs. Invitations arrive by email from Infosys; nobody can sell you a HackWithInfy PPI.
