The Cognizant GenC exam pattern has three assessment rounds — a communication assessment, an aptitude assessment and (for the GenC Next track) a cluster-based technical assessment — followed by technical and HR interviews. GenC and GenC Next share the same process; the offer tier is decided by performance.

Round 1 — Communication Assessment (~58 minutes)
A speaking-and-listening test in five parts: reading sentences aloud (8), repeating sentences (16), rearranging jumbled sentences (10), question and answer (24) and storytelling (2). It is an elimination round — details and preparation tips on the communication assessment page.
Round 2 — Aptitude Assessment (80 questions, 100 minutes)
Three separately-timed sections: Numerical Ability (25 questions, 35 min) — practice here; Logical Reasoning (35 questions, 45 min) — the longest section, practice here; and Verbal Ability (20 questions, 20 min) — practice here. No negative marking anywhere.
Round 3 — Technical Assessment (GenC Next, 105–120 minutes)
Candidates choose a skill cluster during registration: Cluster 1 — Java programming, ANSI SQL and Web UI (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), about 120 minutes; or Cluster 2 — Python, ANSI SQL and Cloud fundamentals MCQs, about 105 minutes. Both clusters set roughly three coding/problem-solving tasks — SQL is common to both, so drill it on the SQL questions page and practice problems on the coding questions page.
Interviews
Shortlisted candidates face a technical discussion (programming in your cluster language, live SQL query writing, projects, SDLC/Agile basics) and an HR round — often combined into one conversation for GenC. See Cognizant interview questions.
