A focused 4-week plan clears the Cognizant GenC assessment if you respect what actually eliminates candidates: the communication assessment (an elimination round most candidates never rehearse), the 35-question logical reasoning block, and — for GenC Next — a technical assessment where SQL and your cluster language must be second nature.
Week-by-week plan
- Week 1 — Aptitude core. Revise Speed–Distance, Time & Work, Percentages, CI/SI, Ages and P&C from the syllabus. Target: any aptitude question in under 90 seconds.
- Week 2 — Reasoning volume + verbal speed. Logical reasoning is 44% of the aptitude round: daily sets of syllogisms, directions, series and coding-decoding, plus 20-minute timed verbal drills.
- Week 3 — Cluster skills. One SQL classic per day from the SQL hit-list (typed from a blank editor, not read), one coding problem daily in your cluster language, and cloud/OOP MCQs from the technical assessment page.
- Week 4 — Communication + full simulations. Daily 15-minute speaking practice for the communication assessment (read aloud, repeat sentences, narrate short stories), and timed placement papers on alternate days; review every mistake the same day.
Exam-day strategy
- No negative marking — never leave a question blank.
- In the aptitude round, respect the sectional clocks: Numerical (35 min) rewards formula fluency, Logical (45 min) rewards doing the easy formats first, Verbal (20 min) rewards one-read answers.
- In the communication round, steady and clear beats fast — and answer Q&A prompts in complete sentences.
- In the technical round, get one task fully working before polishing the next — a complete solution beats three half solutions.
