Turbo and Elite lead to the same designation at Wipro — Project Engineer — through the same online test. The differences are in who is invited, how high the bar sits, what happens after the test, and what the offer letter says. Here is the side-by-side.
Comparison table
| Parameter | Wipro Turbo | Wipro Elite NTH |
|---|---|---|
| Designation | Project Engineer | Project Engineer |
| Package | ₹5.5 LPA + ₹1 lakh retention bonus (Wipro's 2025 drive page; quoted as "₹6.5 LPA" on prep sites) | ≈ ₹3.5 LPA (prep sites report ₹3.5–4.0 LPA) |
| Who is invited | "Bright talent from select technical institutes" — B.E./B.Tech CS / IT / Circuital | Open national drive — B.E./B.Tech all branches (some drives add M.E./M.Tech, MCA, M.Sc) |
| Academic bar | 60% in 10th and 12th; 6.0 CGPA / 60% in graduation; max 1 backlog at assessment | 60% / 6.0 CGPA in 10th, 12th and degree; zero active backlogs |
| Online test | Same paper — 48 MCQs, essay, 2 coding problems | Same paper — 48 MCQs, essay, 2 coding problems |
| Coding bar | Both problems with optimal complexity; brute force is not enough | Partial / brute-force solutions can still clear the cut-off |
| Rounds after the test | Voice Assessment → Business Discussion → Letter of Intent → Pre-Skilling Training → Offer | Voice Assessment (recent cycles) → Business Discussion → Offer |
| Service agreement | 12 months, ₹75,000 pro-rata | Candidate-reported 12 months, similar amount |
Which one should you aim for?
- Your institute has a Turbo drive: register for Turbo. If you miss the Turbo shortlist, candidates report being considered for Elite on the same score — there is no penalty for aiming high.
- No Turbo drive at your college: register for Elite NTH and prepare to the Turbo standard anyway. Prep sites describe Elite high scorers being invited to a Turbo-level upgrade test; Wipro does not publish this, but a top coding score costs nothing and helps in the business discussion regardless.
- Non-CS / non-circuital branch: Elite is your track; Turbo eligibility is branch-restricted.
What the salary gap means in practice
₹5.5 LPA against ₹3.5 LPA is a difference of about ₹16,000 per month in hand, before the ₹1 lakh retention bonus. Over a two-year stay the Turbo route is worth roughly ₹5 lakh more, and Turbo hires start on client projects earlier, which compounds at the first appraisal. The salary page breaks down the structure; the Elite figures are on Wipro salary.
Beyond Turbo
Wipro's Superset programme index also lists a STAR Hiring Program ("the most rewarding projects and pay package") for B.E./B.Tech and integrated master's students, and PrepInsta reports "Turbo Engineer" roles up to ₹7.5 LPA (candidate-reported). Both sit above Turbo and are invitation based; strong Turbo performance is the visible path towards them.
BCA and B.Sc graduates are outside both tracks — see Wipro WILP, which pairs a stipend with a sponsored M.Tech.
