How the AI scores you
- Pronunciation and clarity — steady, natural pace; rushing lowers accuracy scores.
- Listening accuracy — repeat sentences word-for-word, including small words (a, the, of).
- Grammar and coherence — in open speaking, simple correct sentences beat ambitious broken ones.
- Fluency — avoid long pauses and fillers (um, uh); keep talking within the response window.
How to prepare in one week
- Read a newspaper paragraph aloud for 10 minutes daily, recording yourself.
- Practice repeat-after-audio with news clips — play, pause, repeat verbatim.
- For the speaking prompt, use a fixed structure: state your position, give two reasons, close with one summary line.
- Test your headset and sit in a quiet room — background noise directly hurts AI scoring.
The round is eliminatory, but the bar is functional spoken English — not an accent test. The grammar you revised for verbal ability is the same grammar the AI listens for.
