TCS does not publish a topic list for Ignite, but the test is built from the same question bank as the NQT Foundation section. The topics below are compiled from the sample paper TCS shares on the Ignite page and from candidate reports across the 2025 and 2026 drives.
Numerical Ability (20 questions)
Number system, HCF & LCM, divisibility, percentages, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, ratio & proportion, averages, ages, mixtures & alligation, time & work, speed–time–distance, series & progressions, mensuration (area, perimeter, volume), permutations & combinations, probability, elementary statistics and data interpretation from tables.
Reasoning Ability (20 questions)
Number and letter series, word patterns, coding–decoding, blood relations, direction sense, seating arrangements (linear and circular), syllogisms, data sufficiency, cube folding and paper cutting, visual/spatial reasoning, odd-one-out and analogies.
Verbal Ability (20 questions)
Error identification, sentence completion and word completion, synonyms and antonyms, phrasal verbs and idioms, sentence rearrangement (para-jumbles), reading comprehension passages with 3–4 questions, and formal vs informal usage.
Coding (1 optional problem)
One easy program: string manipulation (reverse, duplicates, vowels, palindrome), number logic (LCM/GCD, Armstrong, prime, factorial), or array basics (frequency count, maximum/minimum, sum of even numbers). Input from standard input, output to standard output. Any of C, C++, Java, Python or Perl.
Weightage snapshot
| Section | Heaviest topics | Marks share |
|---|---|---|
| Numerical | Percentages / profit-loss / SI-CI (≈ 6), ratio-average-ages (≈ 5), number system (≈ 4) | 33% |
| Reasoning | Series & coding (≈ 7), arrangements & relations (≈ 6), directions & syllogism (≈ 4) | 33% |
| Verbal | Grammar / error spotting (≈ 8), vocabulary (≈ 6), RC (≈ 4) | 33% |
Ignite has no Advanced Quantitative or Advanced Coding section — do not spend time on the NQT Advanced material unless you are also sitting NQT.
