The Tech Mahindra psychometric test throws 72 behavioural questions at you in 15 minutes — roughly 12 seconds each. There are no right or wrong answers; the engine maps your responses to 13 managerial competencies such as accountability, stress tolerance, conflict resolution and teamwork, and checks your answers for consistency and cultural fit.
What the questions feel like
Statements like “I prefer clear instructions over open-ended tasks”, “I stay calm when deadlines change suddenly” or “I would rather lead a discussion than follow one”, each with an agree–disagree scale. Similar traits are probed multiple times with different wording — that repetition is the consistency check.
How to approach it
- Answer honestly and consistently. Contradicting yourself across reworded questions is the main red flag the engine looks for.
- Do not overthink. At 12 seconds per question, your first instinct is the strategy — the timer is part of the design.
- Avoid extreme-only responses. Marking “strongly agree” on everything reads as gaming the test.
- Answer every question. Unanswered items weaken the profile more than any single answer can.
The psychometric section is generally not an elimination round by cutoff, but a flagged, inconsistent profile can hurt you at the interview stage — panels sometimes see the summary.
