TechBee is a paid training programme with an assured job, not a free apprenticeship — this is the part families most need to understand before the interview. You pay a one-time training fee (a bank loan with zero down payment is arranged), HCLTech trains you for 12 months, pays a stipend in the internship phase, and then employs you. Merit waivers can cut the fee to half or to zero.
The 12-month structure
| Phase | Duration | What happens | Money |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Classroom training | 6 – 9 months | IT foundation (computer basics, programming, databases, networking), then stream-specific skills, tools, processes and certifications; hostel optional at the centre | No stipend; fee applies |
| 2. On-the-job training / internship | 3 – 6 months | Work on live HCLTech projects under a mentor, role-specific training | ₹10,000 per month stipend |
| 3. Full-time role | From month 13 | Deployment as a full-time employee in software, testing, infrastructure, design or digital process roles | Salary — see TechBee salary |
Fee, loan and waivers
| Training fee — IT Services | ₹1.40 lakh (taxes extra, as reported) |
| Training fee — Digital Process Support | ₹51,000 (taxes extra, as reported) |
| HCL CAT / registration fee | Nil |
| Loan | Bank education loan facilitated by HCLTech with zero down payment; EMIs typically start after you are placed |
| Merit waiver (as published in earlier FAQs) | 100% tuition waiver for 90%+ in the training assessments; 50% waiver for 85–89% |
| Higher-education fee | Paid by you to the university; HCLTech reimburses part of it while you are employed |
Where the training happens
Classroom training runs at assigned TechBee centres — Noida (the programme's home), Lucknow, Nagpur, Chennai, Madurai, Bengaluru, Vijayawada and Hyderabad have hosted batches (candidate-reported; centres vary by intake). You state a preference at registration, but the allotment follows batch availability. Hostel facilities are available at most centres and are optional; budget roughly ₹6,000–10,000 a month for a hostel or PG plus food.
Questions parents ask
- Is the job guaranteed? HCLTech describes it as an assured full-time job on successful completion of the training — attendance and assessment scores matter. Students who fail the assessments repeat modules or exit.
- Is there a bond? The training itself is not reported to carry a bond. Employees who opt for a sponsored UG or PG degree sign a service agreement of about three years after course completion (as stated in earlier FAQs).
- Total cost of the first year? Fee (₹1.40 lakh IT track) plus living costs for the 6–9 classroom months, partly offset by the ₹10,000 monthly stipend in the internship phase. Compare with three to four years of private-college fees.
Ask the counsellor for the current fee, tax and loan terms in writing before signing. Figures here are from HCLTech's TechBee pages as of September 2026 and from earlier published FAQs where marked.
